Anyone ever use something other than the "stock" padding/deadening material under their cover(s)? Something such as Dynamat, etc., ... especially when aiming for a near-squeak-free environment for quiet ride, & better audio experience, whether hi-end, or what-have-you ... (?)

Padding under the engine cover? No way. I don't think the cover is there for anything other then decoration - its not going to silence crap anyway you go. If anything, it may rattle around a little and make more noise. The engine cover also traps heat - not good. Which is why some try "meshing" their covers. Additional padding would trap more heat, so I wouldn't recommend this.

Exactly my experience, traps the unwanted heat. Ended up ditching my cover a couple of years back as the fuel rails needed all the cool air they could get. Also ended up drilling a half dozen 1 3/8" holes at the underside of the RAM AIR plenum to dump cool air onto my engines topside.

If you want it to be quiet, dynomat your firewall and the underside of your hood. If its stock heat shouldn't matter as much. I understand heat being an issue on a badass turbo car though
