Question Light Switch Wiring

I was wondering if anybody could tell me what wires would be best to splice in to for lights to come on when I turn on the gauge lights and what not or if I can just hook up brand new wire some where. I have a 85 Monte.

Looking at my old Omega book, you can probably hook up to the Yellow wire (+12V) at the light switch. Don't forget to use a relay to run the lights.

Rule of thumb. Always when with a MM to make sure you are using the correct wire. One thing my teacher told me was that when the cars are being built is that if they would run out of a color wire, they would jsut grab any other color to finish a harness. So double check everything.

looking back, you never mentioned if you wanted to wire in a set of fog lights or what. I'm assuming thats what you are trying to do.

So you want the lights to come on when you turn on your dash lights?

If thats the case, upi can use the Brown wire (+12V) at the light switch also.

Again, dont forget to use a relay and fuse.

Alright so I was thinking an inline fuse set up, what kind of relay do I need to use? Just like a dimmer one?

YOu can get a relay at any sound shop. BUt if you happen to go at anytime to a pull-a-part junkyard type, then look at the older Toyotas. You can grab a bunch of them from under the hood and put them in your special toolbox. Your pockets(Gee, i wonder why i know that ).

If you need help to wire the relay, let me know. I can post that up too.
