Lightbulb Wiring a toggle switch to my AMP

Hey guy's so this is a stupid question but I'm wondering how I can wire a toggle switch up in my car to turn my amp's power on and off when I want. Right now I have it hooked into a wire for the factory amp, that way my amp to my subs turns off when my lights turn off. I want to get away from that and manually be able to with the Toggle. Pic's If possible cause it's the best way I'll learn next to someone showing me lol

hey,

i did this myself actually. i simply put a toggle switch in the blue remote wire for my amp so that it cuts power to the amp when i have people in the car, etc. i cut it the write length so that it sticks in between my rear 60/40 folding seat, its very simple to do.

Is it just the remote wire only connected to the toggle switch? Won't it need a ground wire?

Just put the switch in line with the remote wire and thats it.

Place the switch anywhere you want and or convenient for you.

heh, all you a toggle switch is a single one pull switch, it just cuts the line of power, doesnt reqruire power unless it's a relay. you could switch the power line of a relay with a toggle switch as well if you have several amps, but in your case you can easily mount a toggle up in your console, just pick a spot out of one of the empty ports, drill a hole, pop the switch in, and run the wires, just put it in line with your remote wire your running now and it will switch it off when you wish.

but really having it shut off 30 seconds after you leave you car isnt much wear and tear on the amp, it isn't really doing anything bad to the amp.

I did some "switch" work. I got the lighted ones so you ground the switch, give it a constant 12V, and then wire the remote for your amp into the middle blade of the switch...SHAZZAAAAAAAAMM!!!!!
