This is mine

And this is how to clean your engine
Cover your CAI, battery connection, and alternator with a plastic Grocery
bag. Get your hose and lightly spray the entire engine down don't
blast water, lightly misting will work fine.
Now spray the entire engine down with an all purpose cleaner.
I like Adams all purpose cleaner, but you can use simple green or whatever
you like. Let it sit a few minutes and then use a boar's hair brush and scrub
the engine down. Take your time, any areas that you can't reach with this brush
get a detail brush for tight spots then hose off. Now remove the plastic bag,
get a few towels and dry the engine bay as best you can. Close the hood start
the car and let the heat of the engine dry whatever is left. After the engine
is dry and cool use your detail spray on most of the metal area and your plastic
protection on the area on your engine cover and other areas. This is what
I use to do the job. You can use whatever product is similar.
1. Adams all purpose cleaner
Adam's All-Purpose Cleaner
2.Adams in and out Spay on the plastic trim
Adam's In & Out Spray Dressing

I always leave the hood up and let the sunshine dry the car out. I don't like to start a car with the engine soaking wet

Well your doing it wrong buy letting it air dry your giving moisture more time to get into
your electrical system and screwing thing up buy running your motor it dries out everything quickly and less chance of getting moisture in to your delicate electronic's.
Also what happens when you drive in the rain your motor gets soaking wet think about it!!

Perhaps I should clarify. I don't leave a soaking wet engine. I hand dry everything that I can, just like I do when I wash my car.

I just then leave the hood open after I'm done to let the rest of the stuff dry out that I can't reach.

I understand engines get wet in the rain, but not to the same extent.

Really the same here too. Now that the Deuce is not a daily driver any more, I just clean it by hand with simple green and a rag. the bay just gets dusty not realy dirty anymore. When I diduse the hose on it I used a big towel to dap up all the water then let it dry
