I also wanted to add your engine bay don't look too bad to start with and make sure you post pics when you get it done.

For any de greaseing. I use DAWN DISH SOAP. Works great and does hurt anything. I use it to wash my hand when i've worked on the Chevelle or my old trucks.

X2 on the Dawn! Just the plainest blue Dawn (the one with no moisturizing crap )

I've also used simple green and got good results. Either one will do. Your engine bay doesn't look too bad at all.. Mine was much worse and I didn't have to scrub much LOL. Only thing I recall scrubbing were the valve covers. Just covered up the alternator/intake filter/coil packs/ battery/fuse box and hosed it down lightly after letting it soak for a little bit with simple green.

I didn't bother fully detailing any of the hoses with tire dressings and such. I'm sure that would be something additional if you ever plan to show it

I don't like to use dawn around paint.

It works great for stuff like your engine cover and stuff though!

Great! I ordered and received my black gloss engine ceramic duplicolor spray paint so that I can paint the cover. Would this paint work on any interior plastics or any exterior metals, such as lugnuts? I have a rustoleum black spray that may be better for interior though :/

Any plastic parts should be painted with a plastic specailty paint otherwise you risk cracking, flaking and chipping as plastic expands and flexes. duplicolor does make a plastic paint.

I think he's calling your entire car "McDonald's-y"!
