I've also used simple green and got good results. Either one will do. Your engine bay doesn't look too bad at all.. Mine was much worse and I didn't have to scrub much LOL. Only thing I recall scrubbing were the valve covers. Just covered up the alternator/intake filter/coil packs/ battery/fuse box and hosed it down lightly after letting it soak for a little bit with simple green.
I didn't bother fully detailing any of the hoses with tire dressings and such. I'm sure that would be something additional if you ever plan to show it

Great! I ordered and received my black gloss engine ceramic duplicolor spray paint so that I can paint the cover. Would this paint work on any interior plastics or any exterior metals, such as lugnuts? I have a rustoleum black spray that may be better for interior though :/
