You will love the looks of the your car once you've clay barred the paint. Also, don't forget to wax afterwards cause you want to protect the paint.

First time I ever clay barred an enitre car was the '03 Pace car last june. You can't image the results I got.

The paint was kind of dull and not much shine to it when we first got the car. After I was done working the paint it was like a new car.

I got many compliments on how nice looking the car was from people at shows and cruise-ins we took the car to.

I'm not sure how well everyone car view these pictures?

This was the car still setting at the dealer we got it at. The paint has a dull appearence to it.

This is june after I'd worked the paint. To me, it has a lot better shine to it.

rj any tips for dealing with the decals, do you just clay bar around them or did you have a special trip to get them up? BTW mine is a 03 gordon with the flames so if that changes your tip at all.

Not sure if anyone else has tried Turtle Wax Liquid Clay Bar but I stopped using traditional clay bars for this product a year or so ago and like it much better.

Clay Kit
ICE® Clay Kit provides the ultimate finish preparation for wax or polish! The Kit contains ICE Liquid Clay, Clay Bar Lubricant and a 100g Clay Bar. The system cleans more than a traditional clay bar kit. It creates a smooth as glass finish on all paintwork, fiberglass and metal surfaces, and increases the depth of shine when waxing or polishing.

Product Benefits
  • ICE Liquid Clay is used to remove dirt, stains and contaminants such as tar, tree sap and wax build-up. It will even remove minor swirl marks.
  • The ICE Clay Bar and Clay Bar Lubricant are then used to remove surface contamination such as overspray and mineral deposits.
  • Does not contain harsh abrasives that can scratch or scuff your finish and is the most thorough surface cleaning system available.

Let me know what you guys think about it. I tossed the applicator pad that comes with it and found that it works best with a buffer.

Makes it a whole lot easier than the bar too which was one of the main reasons I tried it. All you whipper snappers still using the bar will know what I mean a little later in life..

LoL `Todd, (Mod Montejass: ),

Wasn't sure what a Whipper Snapper was, so I looked
it `up because we are always amazed what a MCF
Member can learn on our forum.
Since your from the Great State of Texas, I now
know it's a old cowboy term : )
Great seeing you back on the MCF, and thanks
again for your words/posts/contributions.
U R only as old as you feel...Today I feel `old
Young Whippersnapper lol

Someone who is young and tenacious and new to a task, and sometimes perhaps shows a little bit of cheek or enthusiasm is referred to as a young whippersnapper.

So what is the origin of this phrase?

Well it has to do with cowboys, no less, and the task of looking after the cows.

One of the easiest skills to master was that of cracking the whip. So since this was usually done by a beginner who did not yet have the other skills which were harder to master at their command, then it became known as a whippersnapper, and the phrase has stuck and moved into common parlance.

I clayed my car today, and instead of creating a new thread, i figured i would just post here!

first off, want to say i have never used a clay bar, and much like the OP i didn't even know about it until i got addicted to this site...

I used the meguires clay kit and the NXT 2.0 wax!

I thoroughly washed the entire car, and let her dry, then i began to clay, now i have no basis for comparison, but in my humble opinion the clay was not that great of quality it seemed to fall apart on me, i kept kneading it into itself but it didn't seem to help much...

However, it did wonders for my car! i could feel the grittiness of the clear coat when i started, and after it felt much smoother, i also did all my plastics and my windows and they came out nice as well. i even did the interior of the windows, and it removed most (if not all) of the built up nicotine on the windshield in a flash! i don't know if anyone here has ever tried to clean a nicotine coated windshield with glass cleaner, but it's not a fun job...

in conclusion, i think the clay bar did a wonderful job, and i will be using it for quite some time to come. i can still feel a graininess on the surface, but it's 98% better than it was, and waxing was a breeze... now i need a buffer, lol
