I use 0000 steel wool if there is alot of brake dust and grime and then wash with soap and water then wax. Your wheels will look brand new.

 

If there is alot of brake dust then I use Eagle One All Propose Tire Cleaner. It will take the brake dust off just spray on and raise off. If it is really really bad then spray on and use a shop rag and wipe and raise off. As for a polish you just can't go wrong with Mothers.
