that one's up to you. . . i love my car and am constantly getting compliments on it. . . . and also love the look i get from everyone that hasn't seen a v8 sideways :P --as far as the oil consumption, tuning it so it runs all 8 cyl. all the time fixes the problem. . . I'd go for it, but that's me. . . . .good luck

I am aware of that thread, and own an 06 SS myself. I have not had any issue with burning oil thus far with 36K miles. I would buy another 06 any day. However, as you continue your research you'll find a lot of topics regarding the transmissions. Many have failed, often multiple times. However you tend to hear less from the owners who have not had any transmission troubles. both ends of the spectrum, I've seen people blow the tranny at 40K, or people with over 120K that have not had to replace the tranny. You'll have to make the decision for yourself and weigh the risks. It also depends on how well the car has been maintained, and how hard it's been driven.

To answer your MPG question, I've gotten about 15.8 lifetime since I've owned it. That's 95% city since I take the train to work. On the highway I get 26ish. And it takes premium if you weren't aware.
