Exclamation Will replaceing brake rotors and pads stop squeak?

Hi all,
My brakes are squeaking really badly and it drives me absolutely crazy. So I was going to replace the rotors and the pads with new ones. That should stop the squeaking right?

If you get good rotors. Bent, warped rotors squeak, or ones with deposits on them will squeak. Also some disks squeak some if they are wet

good luck

If you have a squeak then you may just need new brakes. My Monte had 2 warped rotors on the back that had kind of like a swooshing sound that got faster when I went faster and got slower as I went slower. And because of that it wore the brakes in an odd angle so that the thing that causes your brakes to squeak and let you know your brakes were bad, wasn't doing that. I was running on brakes that really in all honestly probably had never been changed before. But anyway, if the rotors are old, you might as well change them since they aren't to expensive

If the brakes emit a squeal or chirping sound when applied it is probably the wear sensor making contact with the rotor. This is normal and an indication that the pads are worn and need replacement. If the rotors aren't grooved and meet minimum thickness you can clean them up (cross-hatch pattern) with some sandpaper to remove any glazing. Or you can have them resurfaced, but it may not be necessary to replace them.

If the brakes squeal all the time (even when not applied) it could be caused by metal to metal contact anywhere in the caliper assembly. Caliper housing to retainer clips, retainer clips to pads, pads to caliper piston, etc. Disassemble, clean and reassemble using brake grease and anti-squeal compound.

I had planned to buy ACDelco rotors and and pads. Everything I've heard about them and all the reviews I've read were all good ones.

Mine was noisy last month and I thought it was the pads but it was a bad wheel hub. I would check those out too

I have checked that. They appear to be good.
