Hi everyone.. I was looking to get some sort of information or advice regarding a 19" wheel setup for our Monte Carlo's. I'm looking at buying a set of 19x9 and 19x8.5 wheels with a 114.3x5 bolt pattern. I know our cars are a 115x5 and wanted to know if it was possible to bolt up a set of 19's on without any modifications or adaptors. I've done a lot of research regarding this subject and am completely baffled as to why there are no 19" wheels online in a 5x115 pattern. It's either 17,18,20". Based on some setups I've seen, 20" would seem to large for my liking as well as out of my budget even though wheel flushness is almost spot on. 18" seems alright with a 45 tire and was really debating whether or not I should just buy a set of 18's or leave the 17's on there and lower it considering I'm only getting 1" difference in wheel diameter. The reason why I am not happy with my 17's are I was inexperienced before I purchased them. They came shipped from the states with a 235/55/17 tire which was way too large and had strut clearance issues which led me to purchase spacers that don't let me even torque down the wheels to spec without having to strip the nuts and fender rubbing issues with more than 1 person in the car excluding myself. I've had these 17's on for a few years now and was looking to lower the car this spring along with throwing a bigger set of wheels on it with a way lower profile tire and be done with it once and for all while selling the set I have now with the tires already installed. If my only options are 18" or 20" than I would probably leave everything alone and save my money as I spent close to 1500$ for tires/rims/shipping/brokerage fees. Any help or advice, if someone has experimented with this sort of setup would be more than appreciated. BTW, the set I was looking @ getting are VSR storm staggered setup.

5x114.3 (or 5x4.5 i believe they are also called) WILL fit your 5x115 bolt pattern. There is a huge debate of people saying the difference will cause a stud(s) to break vs. not enough of a difference to matter. More people believe in 5x114.3 will be perfectly fine than the skeptics. I'm going with a similar setup with my car eventually (18's 5x114.3). I'm very dumb when it comes to tires and what will fit and what won't though. But I'm positive one of our intelligent members will lead you in the right direction!

There are people that will say not to run 114.3 (the same folks who are scared of wheel spacers)...

114.3 and 115 are completely interchangeable. The difference is .7mm, which is not enough to make any difference what so ever.

It's perfectly fine to run that bolt pattern. I'm very surprised them tires rubbed on your 17" wheels... I wonder if the offset on them 17" wheels are the reason for rubbing...

I ran a 275/40/17 slick with no rubbing

My street tires are nitto 555 in a 255/45/17 with no rubbing either.

Thank you all for posting and helping me better understand this debate. Its always a good idea to get advice from those who have had first hand experience. To answer TurboMonte, the tires I have on there right now have a really thick sidewall. The offset on the rim is 42+ MM. Basically have had 5mm spacers only on the rears ever since I've owned them. The wheels in the back will not torque down to 90+ lb/ft with those spacers, which isnt a big deal considering the weight is on the front of the vehicle. But everytime I tried torquing them down to spec 100 lb/ft the nuts (factory or not) would strip out. Essentially I was looking for a low profile tire for the 17's from the getgo but didn't understand tire sizes and never put enough research or get visuals on what they would look like on our cars in terms of flushness. I do believe an 18 or 19" wheel would be the perfect choice for our cars, throw on some lowering springs as well and it would look stellar. 2 more questions for you fine folks,.. would I need to purchase hub centric rings for this bolt pattern? What profile would you guys recommend I get with a 19" setup.. 35,40,45? Thanks again everyone, much love

 

Are you getting proper torque on the front wheels? When is the last time you had your torque wrench calibrated?

You may want to consider replacing your studs and nuts with heavy duty pieces - like something from Strange Engineering - especially since you are running spacers.

 

My Rockstars 18" are 5x114.3. with a 42mm offset and work perfect. They actually sit out farther too and that makes it look even better than how the stock ones were offset
