Tire Pressure Monitoring System Issues
Ok I have a 2006 Monte Carlo SS and about 3 months after I bought it (brand new) the TPMS starting acting up displaying TPMS needs to be serviced = sometimes 3 sensors would work, sometimes 2 would work and sometimes all 4 would work so now none are working and the dealer told me I need to replace 1 of them and that's why none are working.....umm ok even if that is so then shouldn't the other 3 be working ? bottom line GM's TPMS sucks. So I'm curious any other owners out there with the TPMS having these issues ???

I am, I currently don't have any of them installed because I decided to go with a set of winter only tires on my current wheels! Hopefully in next 2-3 months I will be getting summer only wheels and tires and then I will install all new TPMS sensors?
The sensors that I took out, 3 out of 4 were working, if only 1 is bad, the other ones should work! I think the dealer is B-sing you about if 1 is out then they all won't work!
pics taken right before I had them removed for winter tires...

I had the same problem with my '07 Monte Carlo LT. A week after I bought it the "Service TPMS" light came on, showing one sensor not working. The mechanic told me they're not well-made parts and fail all the time, and that since one of mine failed the other three probably would. Two more failed in the next few weeks, the fourth is still good. Luckily my warranty covered the cost of replacing them which was close to $200.00 EACH. They work independently of each other, so if one of your's fails the other three should be okay.

Sorry, that was the price for speaker replacement (also under warranty). The price on my work order for one tire pressure sensor is $71.00, still a lot higher than $l50 for all four.

What bothers me the most about this is because I didn't have the sensors installed on my after market wheels so everytime I start the car I get that check tire pressure warning display on my dash so I always have to press the button a couple times to get it back to where I want it which is trip A. Very annoying but I've learned to live with it.

the stupied dealer quoted me a price of like $120 for 1 so I decided the heck with it the system is junk so I'm not bothering.
