what does your door panel say about psi? I think 40 psi is way to much for a recommended tire pressure!

I run 35 psi Michelin hydroedge tires. At 3.00 a gallon for gas a little less comfort is ok. Since tire installation I have seen a 1/2 to 1 mpg increase.

the previous owner tried to remove the tire psi label,i guess,it is unreadable since i bought the car.been running 40 psi warm for 4 years no issues with tire wear, got 111,xxx miles on the car and i bought it with 8k and i have only bought one set of tires at 65,xxx to replace the factory goodyear eagle rs-a tires it came with.btw, the tirerack says you must use a 225/55r17 with a 17x7 inch wheel,is this true, factory size for my car is 17x6.5 with a 235/55r17 tire, discount tire direct does not make the same claim and i do not want to get 17x7 wheels and new tires that do not fit.

This, I try to maintain it at 35, but won't panic if it gets down to 30
either.
