Default Rear Springs Needed

HI...........I have a 1984 MOnte Carlo non-ss street rod and I have a need for different rearsprings as I have 10"weld drag lights with 275-60-15 tires on them and the side walls are getting beat up. The 12 bolt rear end in the car is out of a 69 chevelle so it's about an inch and 1/2 wider then the stock G-Body rear. New springs are the way to go for me to raise the a$$ end up about 2 inches or so...any ideas what springs would do what I want them to do ( caprice, camaro, impala) ???

Thanks

Default RE: Rear Springs Needed

I had a 69 GTO that needed to be raised in the rear. I installed the rear springs that are used in a Tempest station wagon. It raised it about 3 inches.

You may be able to put in a set from the 1980 Malibu wagon. I think that was the last year the wagon ws made. Or even from the El Camino. You will have to check the spring rates.

I alos had a 1985 MC and installed MOOG cargo coil springs. They have a variable rate design and raised the rear about 1 in.
