Rack & Pinion

Rack & Pinion
Hey guys, I have a bad tie rod, on the passenger side. It's been suggested to replace the whole gear rack, which I'm getting at a good price. However, I have an 05 MC LT and i'm not sure which suspension package I have. Is it the FE2 or FE3 or FE4.
Whats the difference? How can you tell?
Can you guys let me know? Thanks!

RE: Rack & Pinion
There should be a label about the size of a postcard on the spare tire cover. This label has all of the regular production option codes(RPO codes) that your Monte Carlo is equipped with. This is where you will find what your suspension RPO code is. If you are unable to locate the RPO code label just PM me your VIN or post it here and I can run it in the GM Vehicle Information System and send you a complete build sheet for your Monte Carlo. By the way, replacing the entire P/S rack assembly because of a loose tie rod end is a huge waste of money!! The inner & outer tie rod ends are available separate from the rack. Whatever route you take (entire rack assembly or replace just the loose tie rod end) your Monte Carlo will need the toe in adjusted after the replacement.
Hope this helps....Steve
