Default New Wheel Help

OK, so I have decided I want to order a set of Moda MD8 wheels from TireRack.com. My issue, I am going from a 16" rim to an 18" rim. I want to keep the same overall tire diameter.

Right now, my car is running on 225/60-16. TireRack recommends for the Moda MD8's to get 245/45-18. I don't know a whole lot about tire sizes, but I thought for every inch in rim you go up, you decrease the middle number by 10.

Thus, should I be ordering 245/40-18 size tires instead to keep the same overall wheel diameter?

245/45/18 is the absolute correct tire size. If you liked how my rims looked that is the size. Your speedometer will be .2% slow which is nothing.

Remember the middle number is a percentage of the first number. The 45 isn't a height measurement in itself, it's 45% of the first number.

Good choice. If you get them take some pictures, I'm thinking about them too now after I saw the other member that just got them.

Great choice I get alot of good compliments about the car. Tell me the car looks alot more aggressive now. I wished they were still a little more brighter though. I guess I'm still used to the old chrome wheels. Can't wait to see them pics.

I sadly have not had much time to research tires for these wheels, but I intend to make a purchase VERY soon!!
