How to restore polished factory alloy wheels?
Hello guys,
I have 2004 Monte Carlo with factory alloy wheels with polished board and center star.
With the years past, the coat started to chip off. See it on the pictures.
I know, if I sand blast them, it will ruin the polish.
Is there some chemical that would dissolve/remove the coat?
Then, what is the right coat for them? I talked to local wheels guys, all of them said, neither clear powder nor lacquer will stay long on polished parts.
What is the correct way to restore them?
I am not in USA which makes thinks worst
Thanks for the help,
Ivo

I have this same wheel on my Monte. Here is what I used. Finger nail polish remover or Acetone. Scrub it with that, I used a Microfiber cloth and it worked well. Tough areas a 3M pad. once you get the desired look. Clear Coat them again and you should be good until the next time.
