Default Good tires to get?

Was wondering if anyone had any input as to what all-season tires would be good to put on my 2006 Monte Carlo SS? the size is 235/50R18 - and W speed-rated (168mph+). I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on Michelin's site - they look like they have some pretty high/good ratings... and I'm in CT, so I do need some traction in snow.

I've been trying to find RWL tires, but can't find any in my size [sm=boosign.gif]

No, I don't need them yet, but just want to start looking and get some picked out, so when I DO need them, I'll know exactly what I want to get.

As for performance, I want an all-season - something that will grip well on take-offs, in corners, etc... but still need to have good traction in rain and SNOW.

I've been checking out tirerack.com - and on there, of all the tires that are available for my car in my size, the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Kumho ECSTA ASX appear to have the highest marks/ratings from people. Anyone here have experience with either of these at all??

TIA!

I can't answer for the Michelins, but the Kumhos are absolutely worthless[:'(] in the snow. The tread compound is great in warmer temps, but when it gets cold it hardens up like a rock. For any other driving they are great(high speed, rain, etc). We sell these where I work and the only complaint we've had is the cold weather/snow traction problems. Oh, and good luck finding ANY tire in that size thats good in the snow.

I can't speak on their snow performance, but the Falken Ziex tires are awesome all season radials. They far exceeded my expectations in wet weather as they gripped like the ground was dry and were extremely reliable and comforting no matter the road conditions. Hankook Ventus HRII's are also nice, those would be my recommendations.
