I wouldnt do it - bang for the buck is pretty poor. Besides, the XP was designed around maximizing stock head performance anyways.
Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking, too much work for too little gain. XP cam performance would definitely be a good start for me as an enthusiast.

It sounds like you'd be happy with ~350 wheel and this setup can certainly get you there. I remember when I was doing my build talking to a guy over on 3800 pro that was doing a build at the same time shooting for the stock head record. I want to say he came out just a hair under 350 wheel (IC, XP, stock heads, 2.55") and that was literally 20 years ago. I'm sure that record has been bumped up since then as Ive seen stock head VS cars in the 340s since.
I would 100% be happy with 350 wheel, fastest car I've ever driven is my mom's 2016 Impala, something like 300 crank. I'm certainly not looking to compete or anything, but I love the idea of having a pretty stout blower build in a 20 year old car, something I never see in my local car meets. As a bonus I would also like to smoke all of the ricers

I'm late to the dance a few weeks here, haven't been on this board in a while. Is the stock wheel/tire size for your 2003 MC 16x6.5 on 225/60r16? Bumpin96 seems to be very knowledgeable about wheels/tires, as I've read some other posts he's commented on. I'm building a similar power setup (350-400whp) on my 2007 MC SS.

To me, even a 225 tire (8.86" wide) on a 6.5" wheel seems too much. Obviously, I'm wrong as the factory put those on and I know that GM has to have a margin of safety and not maxing out. And a 245 wide tire (9.65" wide) seems even more excessive on that narrow (6.5") width wheel. The Michelin Pilot 4S are showing minimum width of 7.5". I'm running 245/45r18s with 18x8 wheels on my 2007 MC SS, and the 04-08 GP GXPs came with 18x8 wheels and 255/45s on the front. I've seen cars running 275/40s on that same 8" wide rim, and others running the same tire specs on W-bodies with up to 9.5" wheels.

So the general question is, how does one match wheel width/diameter to tire width/aspect ratio? And what would you suggest for my 18x8 wheels?
