Red face dont shoot me!

how much modification does it take to slap 26s on a monte carlo? yes yes you did hear me correctly and i have been on this forum a long long time and know how much crap i will recieve for doing it to my car.. well one thing most people dont understand is its MY car.. but keep in mind im not too serious on getting 26s.. mostly looking for 22s or 24s.. but theres been a set of gorgeous 26s(5 star pattern) on craigslist brand new with brand new tires for 1500$.. i can get 22s brand new for around 1300-1400 with tires.. but hell if its not too much work putting 6s under it then why not! now yes it adds a lot of wear and tear on my tranny and motor blah, blah.. i have put 2000 miles on my car this year.. and thats about how much she will get, if not less from here on out.. so will it add wear and tear sitting in my drive way? probably not... i cant really seem to find anything that says you need to lift so many inches and cut so much.. i have a friend that has 6s on his blazer but thats the wrong bolt patter other wise id put them on to check!

thanks in advance...

I think you can fit 22's on a 6th gen stock... Granted the tires will be rubber bands... Anything bigger and you're gonna have to lift the car and I know nothing about that. Good luck with your decision...

Honestly, I don't think you will be able to easily go that big. If you look on YouTube of the people that put 26 or 28s on these cars, you have to cut the fender back so far the door starts to not fit true and the car will start to buckle.

I believe 22s work without any heavy modifications (rubber band tires, but they'll still rub). 24s are about the biggest you could go.

Honestly 26's look kinda ridiculous, more of like a truck. I'm 100% against big rims, but I think fitting 22's would be better than lifting and cutting to make 26's fit lol

ok to answer your question directly and as easily as possible....to fit 26s and be able to FULLY turn you have to buy a low offset rim...with preferably a 245/235/255/ 30 /26 tire....and what you have to do is get someone to lift your car which is basically extending the strut aka increase spring rate. I forgot to say i read your description and if you have bunch of weight in the back, you have to lift it higher then normal to compensate for the added weight sagging the trunk down. What you do is weld in a peice so it makes the bolt holes lower for the strut and use your OEM strut cuz the metal is thicker its easier to weld..and For the rear its way easier because of the A arms...(youll see). And basically you have to take out your both front and rear plastics on the wheel well, and you lose your resi for the windshield washer fluid cuz the rim hits it.. and yes you do have to cut. You also might have to beat in that metal thats poking out when you take out the wheel wells its part of the frame you gotta smooth it out (rubber mallet maybe) because it might want to dig into the tire of the rim when you put it on and when you cut...you grab a gremmel and pray to god your smooth with it..cut game is very important because if your cut game is whack the car wont look good no matter how shiny the 6s are...youll see how much you have to cut when you put the wheel on each side..also only cut as much as you need to because if its close thats fine more OEM look (factory) the better, because when you try to sell it youll notice that, and the car will be jacked up high lol but BECAUSE if you have low offset wheel (+20) or less, the lower offset, the most turn you will get but that means you have to cut more and the more itll poke out from the car (the rims). i have my 03 lifted on 24s and i have the right offset (+38) it doesnt do that poke ****, but i can only turn 35-40% on each side or else the wheel hits the frame of the car...and to be specific my car is lifted 5.5" all the way around.
