ya don't just need the rear to squat, you also need the front to come up. When I had my 81 monte I ran a 4:11 gear with a 4000 stall and 10" slicks and hardly ever spun a tire. Unhook the front sway bar, get some good drag shocks for the front. Get the battery in the trunk and lighten up the front end as much as ya can. I did run a coil over set up with the stock trailing arm locations with poly bushings. I don't remember the spring rates but if you do go that route just get them for the weight of your car. Hope this helps ya a little

Do you have at least 1 if not 2 solid motor mounts?

Solid mounts would help get the front end off of the ground. With rubber mounts, the front engine pulls up but doesn't take the front wheels with it as it shoul.

Thiscontributes to some of the wheel spin.

You only actually need one solid mount on the side that the engine torques up from if you also street drive the car.

my 78 was real good at breaking free on me
then i added polly bushings all the way around
solid motor mounts and also leveld the motor,
then i used softer rear springs to allow it to squat and pull the front end up. and also had the drag light wheels on it so they were real light. and lot skinnier then the stock versions. want to say they are 80's series rims that i had.

Also another thing to look at is what size wheel you have on the real mine were 10's also and it worked good for the car, But others had diffrent sizes to. My wheels were 15" rime size but i do know a pewrson that was running 14" and he seems to have good luck to.

Trick is to get the weight to transfer to teh rear as had as it can so it will plant those rear tires to teh ground for you.
Also you might look in to some better traction bars under the rear end of the car. Good luck
