here is some recent info posted about a good place for brakes, I hope it helps!

EBC Slotted and Dimpled Rotors, I just got their Ultimax pads. Not into autocross or any "real" racing but need something to bring the car to a halt at highway speeds and that seemed like the best as far as performance/cost. Just under $400. Cheaper then my insurance deductible and increased rates if/when I rear end someone on I-26!

Got an e-mail that they are finally on the way, due in on Monday. Talked with a tech @ work and he'll put them on for me for very little $... didn't mention what he felt very little was but it'll certainly be done better and quicker then if I did it myself! Both sets of rotors and pads for $389.39

I like the EBC Red Stuff pads myself. Though they do dust a fair amount they wear slow and have good grab.

I run Akebono Street Performance, they bite really well and have clear dust, so my back tires actually look dirtier than my front tires some times. I'd definitely recommend getting a low dust brake if you want your car to look more clean.

breaks are the last place where you want to get the low grade of breaks. if you do alot of city and highway driving get the best that you can afford at the time. like semi metalic type of break pads due to the beast wear patern and good life all the way around.
