hello...hope someone might have an answer for this conundrum...i bought 2--17" rim & tires DALE EARNHART EDITION SS SUPERCHARGED P235-55R17 from LKQ on EBAY great price, awesome condition...OF coarse i try them on my 2002 monte LS & the new tires are rubbing the bottom side of the rear struts (no im not doing the front)...yes the supercharged edition 2004 dale earnhart etc.has different struts....so does anyone on this site have them as an assembly & feel like selling to me--- used ones are fine.. ..i dont want to buy new assemblies-- aftermarket-- MUNROE etc are 140-180$ ..expensive.. & they dont seem to sure about size fittment & i dont like that...thanx--jc--

I had the same problem. Get some wheel spacers and hit the struts in with a sledge or a bigger hammer and youll be fine.

I don't see how those would rub... unless your stock suspension is really shot

wheel spacers and a hammer sound like a good idea.the factory rims are set too inbound anyways.

remember...i got the LS = LESSER VERSION...im sure others can come up with some appropriate descriptions...(not an SS )....im leaning towards the KNUCKLE having the holes drilled in a lower spot compared to the SS /SUPERCHARGED VERSIONS....note-- that knuckle from GM DIRECT PARTS was around 350 $ itself-- OWCH--- if u ever-- have to use a HAMMER to fit your tires !!! SOMETHING IS WRONG !!--dont go there !! u never used a hammer on your LEGOS right ??!!

Its not something wrong, its just that the rear suspension is different for the size of your tires. And on the hammer matter, I guess youve never built anything out of wood huh. Its unreasonable to get new struts if you dont have the money, and your only pounding it in a little, not denting around the whole plate.
Justin, your offset is different, just because your rims are bigger, it doesnt mean they go into the well farther.

ChibiBlackSheep the springs have nothing to do with the tire rubbing. The problem is FE4 struts are different than FE3 and FE2 struts. KYB now has rear struts for the FE4 suspension. The part number you will need from KYB is 339148. Get a pair of these and you will no longer have the tire rubbing. Here is a link to KYB web site. I just ordered all 4 struts for my 2004 Supercharged SS.

Justin, cool rims, whats your backspacing?, wheel offset?, rim width? I'm looking to fit some NASCAR 614 rims, 17x7.5". They have a 40mm offset.
