Default 06-07 Brakes on 00-05??

I did some research and found that the caliper bolts, hub and knuckle are the same from 00-07 but the rotors and obviously calipers are different. I want to get some dual piston calipers from a junk yard but will they fit? Pretty much all I need to know is if 00-05 rotors are the same size as the 06-07 rotors. I know I would need new pads for the calipers. Anyone have any ideas why this wouldn't work or how to do it?

Yeah if the rotors are the same all I would need is the front calipers and new brake pads.

Bump?? For all you people with 06-07 Monte Carlo's. What rotor size do you have? And I assume the rear rotors on the 06-07 are single piston not dual like the front right?

Well after much research I found out this. The 06-07 use a dual caliper in the front and single in the rear. The rotor used on the 06-07 is only .008 or something thinner than the 00-05. Because they are thinner, you need:

1. Two calipers from a 06-07 Monte Carlo or Impala or various other late model GM cars.

2. New 06-07 rotors

3. New 06-07 pads

I have not priced it out yet but it seems like this option would be significantly cheaper than swapping F-body calipers (From ZZP) onto a 00-05.

Very true. But I guess I was thinking that I doubt I am going to go to the track that much and they weigh the same as the ones I have now. I figure next rotor and pad change I would just upgrade the calipers. I found a set for $70 so I figure why not.

the fronts are dual piston. the fronts i believe are 11.9 or 11.7 inch. somewhere in that ballpark i hope this helps. silver is right the f-bodys are lighter so if you could get them at the same price as the newer montes then thats the route i would go.

i have the dual piston calipers up front on my 7th gen monte it should be able to bolt up with out modification. if you do go with the 7th gen duals up front you will notice the difference in stoping but you might have to up grade your break resivuir do to how much more break fluid they use to push four pistins up front
