In November I posted that I had lowered my 02 SS and that I would get some pics of it. I have the pics, but they are too large to post here. I don't know how to make them a smaller file. If anyone would like to see them, e-mail me at rchurch@randallchurchllc.com and I will send them to you. Just a recap:

lowered 2" ront and rear
Eibach high performance springs
KYB gas struts
8.5" x 17" rims
255 - 45 Z rated Dunlop tires
wow, the 17's look small. Did you get the GR2 or AGX struts? The GR2's are silver, AGX are red.

They are the GR2's, because they are silver. What is the difference? I didn't even know they had different ones. I guess I should research better before spending the money.

The 17's do look small, but I wanted to put a tire on it that still had a good size sidewall because I didn't want to lose the ride quality. I felt if I put 20's on it the tires wouldn't have any sidewall and the ride would really suffer.

The difference between the GR2's and the AGX is that the GR2's are basically a slight upgrade from oem shocks/struts, they can handle a slight drop, I believe an inch or so at most, but I wouldn't go much lower than that as they are not built for that application. The AGX have adjustable dampening, which is lovely! I had them on my 94 Accord and it was nice cause when I loaded up the family, I could set the stiffness to soft so we could get the comfortable ride, but when it was just me and I wanted a more responsive/sporty feel to it, crank up the stiffness and I was ready for the auto-cross! The fronts are adjusted with a screwdriver(provided) under the hood at the shock tower, from 1-4, 1 being the softest, 4 being the firmest. The rear one's have a **** on them, marked 1-8, with 1 being the softest. To adjust those, you simply reach under the car and grab the **** at the base of the shock, turn to the setting you desire, and you're on your way.

The AGX are a little pricey, I believe I paid $340 for mine, shipped, but they are well worth the money! That being said, I wonder if they have an application for the Monte?

I totally understand your reasoning, makes alot of sense. It's that reason that I went with 17's on my Civic instead of 18's. I am only getting 18's for the Monte cause I would be able to get a 45 series tire, which is about the lowest I wanna go on any car, and because it fills out the wheel well a little more. I may drop it a little bit, but if I do, it's gonna be a modest drop and most likely using Eibach springs.

so how is the ride with the springs?
I have also looked at redong mine to get it to sit a bit lower. But really would like to keep the ride and would like to get the antiroll bars for it eventually

The ride with the Eibach's is great. It is a bit stiffer, but I always thought the originl ride was too soft, especially for a car called "SS". At first the stiffer ride was very noticable, but it didn't take long to get used to it. I was also concerned about the stiffer ride creating rattles, but that hasn't happened.

The car is dropped about 2". It really makes it look better, more sports-car like. I have parked next to stock height cars and you can really see the difference.

The 17" rims are kinda small looking, which I didn't expect. I wish now I would have gone with 18"s, but nothing bigger. I have about 27,000 miles on the tires now and will replace them in the next few months, at about 32,000 - 35,000 miles. They are 255-45's and I am going to look at a different size, maybe around a 265 or 275/50 or 55 if they will fit. I want the tire to fill the wheelwell a bit more and wouldn't mind a bit wider. They are the Daytona Z rated, and I want a more aggressive-looking tire. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We get alot of rain here, so a good wet/dry tire is necessary.

i only buy the BF good ritch when i can But i have to replace the Z rated ones i have on mine now. They are tore up thanks to a lot of playing on eh Auto bond.

But i have seen the BE goodritch Traction Ta they had great reviews on them but they were like h or v rating instead of the Z
Honestly unless your going at speeds over 100 you really dont need but that is all my own opion on that one. The compound in them is way to soft .

but they are fun and great to know that you have it when needed.

also good years or Dunlops seem to make pretty good tires . But i have never ran Dunlops on my montes i have on the Harley but that is about it.
