Default 1998 6th Gen. Intimidator Concept Monte Carlo

1998--6th Generation you say WTF. Seriously the 6th Generation Monte Carlo was introduced in late 1997-98 the named it the Intimidator Monte Carlo and it was Red and Silver. Now compare it to the 6th Gens. and it was very close front Air Dam is a bit different. But the interior dash if very close. Taz is the mascot for the Intimidator also.

I like it but it looks so odd since I am used to the actual 6th gens. The inside looks similar but then seems to have a lot of parts from the 5th gen montes.

I've seen pics of this concept car before. Heck, I think there was a company that made that front nose (I recall finding a cardomain site or something similiar once where some was trying to turn a 6th gen Monte into a replica of this concept car).

I also believe somewhere I saw pics of the drivetrain in this concept and I thought it was a 3800 Series II, but with a different upper intake (something GM never released) and a factory turbo.

The dash pad and passenger side of the dash looks a lot like what they did end up with on a 6th gen.

The air vents look like they were from a '97-'03 Grand Prix as well as the climate control. Since the '00-'05 Monte I believe is a 2nd gen W-Body car and the '97-'03 Grand Prix was one of the first (if not the first) 2nd gen W-body, I wonder if this concept car started life as a Grand Prix???

The radio looks like that from a 5th gen Monte (among other cars) and the shift **** I've seen on a a bunch of cars (including Camaros).

It's neat seeing how some cars go from concept to production. They put a variety of changes in during the process.

Here are a few more photo's of the Intimidator Concept Car. You can see all the similarities that were used in the 6th Generation Monte Carlo. Now I am not sure where I put it but someplace I have a photo with Dale Earnhardt either standing by it or behind the wheel in this thing. I am on the search for it and will post it when I find it.

I think I have seen the one you are talking about, the front Air dam is almost the same. I may have even driven one like it in Missouri last February. Found it check the front on this one.

The more I see about that concept car, the more I think it began life as a '97/'98 Grand Prix! Look at the interior door panels. Those are definitely very Grand Prix looking. Again, not a surprise as the Grand Prix I think was the first (or one of the first) Gen 2 W-Bodies.

I went searching my PC and found some old saved pics. I believe this one was supposed to be the drive train in the concept car (turbo charged 3800, not the first time GM mated a turbo to the ol' 3.8):

And I can't the web site, but I found a pic I had of the front end that mimics the concept car (with that black one, this now makes two cars that are out on the Internet with that unique front end):
