So I finally got the chance to for real race my car on a 1/4 mile track legally on friday at gateway international raceway. I had a blast & my bestie took videos of the 4 times I got to race.

My first race...against a Mustang, don’t know the year but it was like a 97 or somewhere around there. It was a V6 just like mine. I got 15.763 sec @83.99mph with a reaction time was 0.932sec

2nd race…against a mini dragster. When he pulled up besides me I was like, wtf are you kidding me! Lol. I got 15.325 sec @91.53mph with a reaction time of 0.895sec

My 3rd race…what a mess. I went agains tan ol’ truck with nitrous on it. I did really bad on this run bcuz it was really humid out & I had my windows down while waiting in line & when I went up to get ready for the run I put them up & well right whenever I took off my windows fogged up so badly that I couldn’t see a thing. It was soooo scary! So I didn’t do very good bcuz I didn’t wanna risk hitting the wall =( I got 16.872 sec @72.53mph with a reaction time of 0.970sec

& then my 4th & final race of the night was against a 2000 monte carlo ss & I made a new monte friend in the process lol & it was his first time racing. So at 1.37am (lol) I got 15.467sec @86.91mph with a reaction time of 0.985sec. But man for his first time drag racing he had a good reaction time at 0.600sec

vroom vroom! the next one is one june 18th & if the humidity & heat are low like that night, i'll prob race the monte again but idk. all depends on the weather

good race brit!! now wasn't that fun? everybody should go to the track and race at least one time. doesn't matter if your car is slow, but the feeling of going fast legally is awesome!! btw you guys have a nice track.

lol yup! i've gone faster then that on the road in pensacola but i try to avoid that now bcuz i cant afford a ticket lol. & thanks i love that track. sometime you should most def take a road trip down here so we can race,,,even though u will kick my butt!

ha you are sooo on! maybe we can meet up at one this summer..?? that would be amazing...2 sexy s/c montes running down the track awesome stuff & i would most def be taking lots of pics of our cars before it got dark lol

 

Good job! It's good to have an idea of what your car will do stock and then you can compare mods later on down the road. I ran my car bone stock and have come a long ways since then, lol.

What were your 60' times? I'm curious because your 1/4 times seem a pinch slower than what a typical L67 would run. Reaction times don't effect your 1/4 times at all but it's good for bracket racing. If you want a great reaction time, the rule is if you see the green light then you waited too long. I'm sorry that I'm starting to get into a little bit of the stats on this but I really find drag racing very intersting, even when it's a stock car.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I want to go up to Great Lakes Dragway with Ryan and all of his Grand Prix buddies and race Silver! I can't wait to see what a mildly modded 05 SS will do.

Did you take your spare tire and any extra weight out of the car?

I'm sure the more that you race, the better your times will `be....I know the first time I was on the track I was nervous
and rev'ed `up and then red lighted....
I miss going 2 the Track.....I wish I would've the night I got caught 4 Street Racing....The track is the safest place 4 real-Sure....Hard/VeryExPensive lessons learned ~> 4 me & my bank account : (
