Question run-in with a beamer

crusin down the freeway in my town the other day, and i spot a bmw 335i a few hundred feet in front of me with what looked like to be a couple shiny polished mufflers hangin out the back. so i catch up to him to get a closer look...sure enough this thing has a custom exhaust on it. didnt sound too bad either. late model, im guessing '08/'09.

anyway, he thought i wanted to play, so i decided to humor him. goin along about 50-55 mph with him a half a car in front of me, and he hit it. i did shortly thereafter and here's the kicker...i kept up with him . i never caught up, but never lost any ground either for a good 1000 feet or so. i had to slow down tho, because i was about to shift into 3rd which is around 80 mph in our montes and i was approaching a curve i knew i could never make at that speed with the crappy suspension our Monte's have, unfortunately. and worse than that, he made the turn purfectly fine under full throttle .

so i wanna know, how the hell did i keep up with him?!?! and i know he wasnt lifting or anything like that. that beamer was screaming. fun little run, nonetheless, but im baffled. ive blown off plenty of neons and integras etc. but a 335i?!?! somethings got to be off.

My Sis-in-law has a 06 330i 4 door and its putting out about 252 horses with a 6 speed and if i'm correct that 335i is putting out a little bit over 300 i'm thinking he was playing with you because if he put it to the floor he would of left you pretty bad ! While stationed in Germany my bro got his 04 M3 up to over 160 and the 330i up to about 155 on the Autobahn easy.

i matched up against a brand new 335i on the highway at like 3am. i beat him 2 out of the 3 times we went. we ran up to 137ish which is where i lost my nerve. i only got him by a door length or so. i think that the 335i is slightly quicker than the ls4 car both being bone stock with equal drivers. so i dont know about your car keeping up if he was really in it.

did they upgrade the suspensions for the intimidator monte carlos because my suspension is pretty damn nice. i just try not to push it all the time but i can easily glide a nice curve going a steady 65. i wonder if i can do 75? hmmm....

yeah, i think you're right. now that im looking back on it and you mentioning they are a 6 speed, he mashed it but was prolly in a higher gear. i bet if he dropped it down i woulda been killed lol

and to enzo354: yeah, its like 82, 83 mph that it shifts into third. im looking to get mine tuned soon and have the shift points changed for better acceleration. i dont care too much for top speed, especially around where i live :P haha

but i REALLY do wish i had the $$$ to properly upgrade the suspension. it prolly doesnt help much that i had a small accident back in feb. where the right rear wheel got wedged into the fender and i had to have a new wheel bearing and trailing arm replaced lol something still isnt right with it because when i run over a small manhole cover or other object on the road, the right rear gets a bit squirrelly and gives a little wiggle. it seems to still corner fine tho.

Those 335s are actually the first gasoline turbocharged engine that BMW has put out in something like 25 years. Also, yes, they put out a little over 300 hp and do 0-60 in a little under 5 sec.
