good stuff. for some reason lt1 guys are always shocked the ls4 cars routinely beat them even in stock form.

i had my fun with my 04 ss back in the day. ran against mostly the big dawg and my under dawg surprised a lot of them. probably the best race i ran against, even tho i lost to was a 1965 ford falcon. he got me by 3 cars length i didn't have an intercooler at the time even if i did i still probably lose to him, but probably not at 3 cars length lol. i found out later the falcon was a high 10 second car, built 427, and the driver was a chicago detective....oops!!!

I'll be honest I wasn't sure what to expect so I was happy when I walked away from him each time.

the lt1s were tough when they came out, but the ls motors kill them. they need heads and a cam to really go. stock vs stock with equal drivers the ls4 should beat the lt1 every time they match up. not by a disgusting amount, but enough to prove a point.

now go pick on someone your own size! lol
find a bone stock ls1 to match up with. that should be a far better test.

yea every race the distance got farther between us as I got a little better at launching my car in the freezing cold. It was pretty bad by the end of the third race. I was hoping when i first saw it that it had an ls1 in it but once i got closer I knew it was a little too old. hopefully next time. but either way i love proving people my car can hang with them when they least expect it.

Nice kill! Did he ever say what mods he had done to his Camaro? I've raced two LT1's in my LS1, not sure what year they were or what type of condition, but in stock form they really aren't that impressive, except for off the line, because the LT1 produces a lot of low end torque, but loses torque and horsepower in the upper RPM band, which is probably why you started to pull the higher you got, good horsepower advantage over the LT1.

You ever find an LS1 Camaro/Firebird to line up with, you should! I've never had the opportunity to race an LS4.
