bfurches gave very good advice.. he was right on every account. i had never thoughto f raising rear tire pressure. that would put less of your rear tire in contact with the ground and thus, less resistance for that engine to pull.

I might make a thread ofr this kind of like I did in the General monte carlo section with CAI's and exhaust.... heres my advice.

Stage early.. the line is a few inches long. Barelly easy on to that line. whent he first staging lights come on, slow down more, when the second set comes on, nail the brake pedal. this puts your tire on the back of the line. The timer starts when your tire leaves that line. This wya, your car can laready be going .5-1 mph when the car leaves the line... depending on how long your starting line is.

Leave on the last yellow light.. by the time your eyes see that last yellow light, send a signal to your brain, and your brain tells your foot to go, AND the car rolls off the line (all those thousandths of a second), the light is green... go.

other than that... bfurches gave you great advice. i've dropped my tire pressure several times... i never did better than at 22 psi.. 25 would be a good number to run too... i would concur with 25 psi.

if i think of anyting i'll let you know.. once again, I might make a thread on how to drag race.

and i also concur with NEVER remove taht air filter. get a K&N... maybe remove the headlight if you are energetic.

referring to the MAF screen....

The MAF screen is in place to "smooth" out the signal going to the MAF sensor.

I dont have one in my car either and it hauls just fine.

ooo... that little thing.

the thought did occur to me to remove it. the concensus of another thread (don't knwo if it was this forum or not) was htat it could catch a piece of trash teh air filter missed at the last minute and isn't that restrictive....

I dont remember where...but there is a post somewhere that a university flow benched with and without and it actually was quite a restriction.

Not to mention, anything that the filter cant catch is not going to be stopped my the sensor screen. the holes at about 10x larger than the mesh and paper/ cotton of the filter.
