it kind of became a nessesasity when i have a 2000 sound system i cant listen to because it literly drains my system so hard, at idle the car shuts off lol, and with the fan and ac pump on, forget it, never seen a car shut off like that. damn fangled computers and junk in it lol never owned a car so new so not used to that kinda crap. in my old car if it got low it would just effect the amp not my damn ignition system.
Get a quote from DC Power/Iraggi/Mechman/Ohio Generator/Excessive Amperage for a h/o alt for your car and then come back here and let me know if you think $250 is cheap in comparison

Mechman is not shy about providing actual dyno results of your alt to show you what it puts out and idle and other various rpm. Find other alt makers that do that. He backs up his product with proof in black and white, not hollow claims of grandeur. Not to mention his customer service is a cut above the rest. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" although there are exceptions. Mechman for example has an alt that does 155a AT IDLE (800rpm), for someone who competes in a sanctioning body that requires you be outside of the vehicle during your run it's very important to have an alt that puts out high amperage at idle. It all depends on your application/needs cause not all h/o alts are created equal.

I just did not feel comfortable that if I got it off of ebay it would fit(right bolt pattern) / would be what they said it was or be super cheaply made
so I went to a friend that owns a stereo shop and the biggest he could get made was 200 amp
Yeah, that's another thing that stands out to me, that DB Electrical one recommends 4ga. but other high quality h/o alts suggest 0ga. The difference in the amount of current carried between those two wire sizes is pretty significant so that definitely throws up a red flag to me.
