Default Is it worth it

I have a 1987 Monte Carlo Areocoupe that I crashed a couple of weeks ago, and I was wondering if putting the money in it is worth it, i love the car but finanically I cant really afford it so I just want to hear different oppions on what should I do.

i like that year of Monte...
Its a tough call when you dont think you can afford to rebuild it...

But, As long as the frames still straight...I would...Plus you have the model with T-Tops...thats to cool...

What state r u from also makes a difference...as far as the T-Tops go...
But im a fan!

If you were from Michigan: detroit, downriver, east point etc...
I could hook you up with some good places to get it done..
and great estimates for the repairs...

You have a rare Monte S.S. Not that many were produced.
Q: What years were the Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe available?
  • The Aerocoupe option was available only in 1986 and 1987.
    • Only 200 Aerocoupes were made in 1986 making it the most rare Monte Carlo SS around. They were all identical to eachother, with identical options; white exterior with burgundy interior. Check out the 1986 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe Registry for more information. The option code for the 1986 Aerocoupe is B5T. All were built in Arlington, TX.
    • 6052 Aerocoupes were made in 1987. Each was optioned uniquely with all available SS interior and exterior colors. The option code for the 1987 Aerocoupe is Z16. All were apparently built in Pontiac, MI. There were no Aerocoupes in the 1988 model year.
  • Check out the Aerocoupe section for more detailed information.

  • 200 in 1986
  • 6052 in 1987
Did you have a pro body man check out the damage ?
If you have not, I suggest that you contact a good bodyman & get a estimate on parts/repairs...

Was the frame damaged ? Does the engine still run ? How many miles on your Monte Carlo ?

I hope you weren't hurt...What did you hit ?

Check back 2 see what our other member's post...Good Luck 4-Sure....

lIZ THOSE ARE WORTH ALOT OF $$. I'd get it fixed and fixed right. Not very many of those coupes on the road. Only made them for 2 yrs. If you can't do it now. Put it aside and wait. It will pay for itself. How mush is it going to cost ? Did you get a quote yet ? NOT just one either. get at least 3.

If you cant afford to fix it right you should sell it. It looks like the front end is twisted so if there is frame damage it will need to be straightened out by a pro. Yes it is a rare car but if it's not repaired correctly its worthless.

Frames are cheap, even if it is bent you could get a newer one off of craiglist, swap that, and parts off of a regular SS would fit it. I say keep it around and save up the money and parts. You won't need much besides painting when its done.

I really want to get it fixed I love the car. I live in Hollywood Fl so Im just trying to shop around and see where my best deal is. I didnt get hurt I only got a pretty nasty black eye. But I was on the highwy and lost control beacuse the roads were wet. I hope I didnt mess the frame up. I think it's mostly the body . But I will just have to shop around.
