Hey all,

I've got a 78 with a factory 4-speed, no AC, leather interior.
305ci 2bl and runs very strong for what it is. Tach is in the
dash. The body is rust free with a few minor dings, nothing
serious. Course all the wrap around plastic bumber chrome
is long gone. Front seats are split but back seat is in pretty
good shape. This thing is tall geared, never checked it out.

Any ideas on what something like this is worth?

Yeah, but belive it or not I've never taken a pic of this guy.
I've had the car quite a while and haven't driven it recently.
Just trying to get an idea if the thing has any value or not.

Correct me if I'm wrong here...doesn't the fact
that it has a 4 speed and no AC give it any value?
I've seen a lot of Monte's but this is the first one
I've ever seen with a factory 4 speed.

I am unable to find out just how rare if at all this one is with the little time spent on it. But other Monte's around that year runs around $700 - $1,500 in excellent condition.

I would research your ride a little deeper to see if it was a LE.

Haven't a clue as to what you just told me...LE...???
I did check the motor number at one time and it is the
original motor. Never tried the vin number but it is a
factory installed Saginaw 4 speed. I remember seeing
something at one time that said you could order this car
with a 4 speed, just have never seen one before.

How would I find out if it's an LE and what is an LE?

I wouldn't say this guy is in excellent condition but all in
all it's in pretty good shape for being 25+ years old.

Kinda wondered if the LE was for limited...
Not sure just how I go about doing a search like this.
Is going to the Chevy dealership with the vin number
what you are referring to or does it involve something
else? Usually with the rides I have there is no need to
have vin numbers or wonder what it is you have.
When the light turns green you know if it's a good ride
or a great ride...

I would start maybe with CARFAX, run a complete history of the car, I think they also may have an appraisal tool if I am not mistaken. If they do not PM me, I may have a couple of other avenues to go down to find a worth of your ride.
