Default Rust fixed and new stripes

So I had that dreaded rust over the right rear wheel. I took it to my car guy who put me in touch with the body shop. The rust was cut out, replaced with new metal,( no fiberglass here), reappointed and it looks like it never happened.
Other threads said right, cost just under $1000 for the work but the rust has been eradicated.
The stripes on the car were also replaced as the gray ones were all pitted and looked horrendous. I was told this is because of the metal used in the pigment when the stripes are made and that the sun degraded them to this point. White would not do this as there is no metal used in the pigment for white. So I went with white. The decals were removed from the car and new ones replaced I. Exact same spots, again a fantastic job.
New stripes job was about 600 for those who want to know what this work costs, at least here in NY.

Very nice

My parents are actually about to get a quote for their 2006 Monte SS to get the rust cut out and fixed. I'll let them know about $1000 seems to be the norm.

Yepper, something like the rust situation your Monte was having is try and put a band-aid on it or dive into it and get her done right. Glad you had the what forwith to do her right the first time around. Now hopefully she won't happen again, did the wheel well liner lip get sealed to the metal or what measure did you take to prevent this from happening again?

Good call on the stripes, seeing your Monte suffering sucks, cool you gave her some tlc... Any pic's of the new stripes on the car?

For the rust removal(cut out replaced) on my "Typical" 5th gen(both sides) ... a swap of the spoilers... removal of all the graphics... some ding/dent removal... as well as all the door trim removed... and repainted in those areas... I did spend $1000.00.. Which seems to be the going rate..

I did however..check out a cpl other collision shops that wanted to charge me around 5 to 8 hundred more... So, it pays to shop around..
