Default Catch up

Well guys it looks as if it has been a long time since I was on the forum. Things have been moving along on SSVII but very slow for all kinds of reasons - just too many to get into - I guess I would call it moving along but at a very slow pace.

Well I am on my third tranny in SSV I (1 stock & 2 rebuilds) and decided it is time to change. If I can make that 4T65E-HD last as long as I did - I am going to try and make the the 4T80E work in my car. A 4T80E out of the box is good for 500HP From what I have researched and I understand there are some out there pushing 750 & 800 at the crank with some modifications. And I do believe I can make the 4T80E fit without moving things forward as is suggested by LS4 King- I will be using his mounts and modify them to make them work as a direct replacement that will not change engine location.

I figured now my 4T65E should stay together a bit longer with the new clutch pack of 5 in lieu of the 6 pack that is no longer available and increasing the clamping pressure - I should be able to make a 4T80E Last even longer with the types of modifications I can do to increase its' strength - and make it stay together with 800+ on the ground.

What destroyed the first rebuild was thrust washer failure primarily - due to excessive heat and no lubrication based on the factory design - so I increased the strength of the metal used from 1095 to 4340 added 6 EDM'd oil channels .005 deep in each washer both sides (not present in factory style washers, increased thickness from .030 to .040 and went from 2 to 3 washers in the diff where located. The diff had to be EDM'd to accommodate the taller stack of washers in each location of the diff.

And I am going to change my dash cluster in SSV I - I don't like what I have and am going to put all those gauges that are on top of the dash in the cluster - that way it will be completely stock in appearance and will give me a better view out the windshield. The cluster won't be stock but the dash will.

Well that is what is new guys - long time - sorry it took so long.

Now all I want to do is make the Monte Forum Club meeting at Metro park a few short miles from me on the 12th of. October..

Default Great time at Octobers meet.

Matt the pleasure was all mine. I really enjoyed my time spent that day with everyone, something I was looking forward to for a long time.
Now to just get my other car (SSV II) done so I can attend another meet with something new to introduce to everyone!! Many thanks. Sam
