I honestly can't even tell where the rust was from those pics! Looks like he did an awesome job for you! I like the grill area a lot better with it painted black, great work David

He did a really good job and it looks great, can't even tell there was a rust spot there. As for the grille, it looks to blend in pretty well and looks better painted to match.

Thanks Matt,
I dont know how he was able to match, blend, feather it in to Match 14 yr old paint...without a blending agent. But he did it... There is a little "blemished area"... Otherwise its well done, and an almost perfect match...color wise.

Thanks also Amy,
Actually I painted it(The Grille) flat black, and then cleared over it....
It does have a cpl fish eyes in it... But I think it definately looks better!

Did he wax the fresh paint? The reason shops say to wait before waxing is because it will trap solvents in the paint causing adhesion problems. Baked paints can be sealed sooner, but something that was air dried usually takes at least a month to fully harden.

Thanks for the Question:

As you may or maynot know... He sprayed it with his airbrush... The paint he used was actually from a bottle of touch up! I had just purchased to cover some chips, scratches etc... So, naturally it not only setup quickly...But also has clear blended in with it!.... We prematurely heat treated/dried the paint.. So, It cured rather quickly!.... Got to remember this was pretty much just enuff paint to put some color over the repair.... Not like a factory paint job.. where its much thicker in multiple coats...

But waited 24 hrs.. for it to cure before any buffing polishing, wax applied... (Basically a sealer wax)
But I believe the finished product speaks for itself.
I hope this answered your question....

Yeah, that sounds better. I work in a body shop and I've seen what happens when fresh paint is waxed. Sometimes the paint starts popping right away!
