Default Passenger Door Won't Stay Open

2004 MC SS

When I open my passenger door all the way and let go it just closes itself back. Normally you have two "stops" on that bracket and pin when you open the door. My first stop still works but if I go to the second one it just closes back to the first. So, either my bracket has a nub that's broken/worn or the spring isn't pushing all the way out.

Any ideas?

I've got a picture on my phone and I'll try to update this once I publish (I hate typing on my phone).

Edit: Pic added, and for reference, I'm holding the door fully extended. It's not the best picture, but there's a gap between the pin and bracket. That gap is still there until it gets to the first stop.

Looks like you have one of the nubs on the bracket worn down. But if that spring is worn out and not pushing hard enough on that bracket to keep it up against the pin, that will do it too. Hmmmm
I just went out and took a pic of mine and this is how it looks

Thanks for the reference pic. While it may be worn down, I have a pretty sizable gap between the pin and the bracket whereas yours is definitely engaged. I'm probably inclined to think it's the spring.

Does anyone have a part number? I'm not having the best of luck with my usual parts lookup resources. I can see the hinges but I'm not having luck with the spring or bracket.

It turns out I was looking at the right picture, I just had a really bad resolution so it wasn't showing that the hinge is also the spring holder. Anyway, I found this image below. It looks like 16627694 is what I'm after.

I guess it does look like the arm is attached to the hinge, which is the really expensive part. I'll start with the $5 spring then go from there.

I checked my resources also and cannot find anything.
Might have to go to the junk yard to find one.
Hopefully someone will post with a part number.
