Default painting trim

I was looking at painting my bottom trim. Anyone have pics of what it would like like on a red Monte? I was looking at either, silver or black.

I've seen red with silver trims and it gives it a pretty sweet look. But i think its more of a nascar look. I think the black looks better though. I've attached a couple pics that I found on google. Are you planning to take it somewhere to get painted or are you going to do it yourself? If your doing it your self, how? I've been looking into painting my trim black on my silver Monte but I'm not sure on how to do it. Can ya help me out?

Thanks!

I vote black

Painting plastic trim pieces yourself is relatively easy. All you have to do is scuff the surface with scotchbrite or around 320 sandpaper, clean the surface, tape it off, then spray the paint and clear. Take the tape off and let it cure and then cut and buff

I was looking at plasti dipping the trim. I dont have the high sport kit so I would be just painting the bottom trim but still not sure how it would look.

Well the good thing about plasti-dip is if you don't like the way it looks you can peel it right off

I want to put a black trim on my silver Monte. When you sand, do you sand all the silver paint off? How do I know when to stop sanding? And, what kind of paint should I buy?

Here's a few pics of a Monte without High Sport with the bottom trim painted.

Go with black! Red & black are perfect together
Plasti dip is easy to do, just get some painters tape!! & make sure when you pull the tape the edge is still wet.

You don't have to sand all of the paint off, just enough to get rid of the shine of the clear coat. Basically you are getting rid of the smooth shiny surface of the paint and giving the new paint something to grip on to.

Any automotive spray paint will work. I like duplicolor personally as I have had good success with it. Be sure to clear coat it as well so it's protected and shiny.

Awesome! Thanks a lot! 2-3 coats I would assume?
