Painting engine cover
I got a decal kit from houseofgrafx.com. Gently scraped off the old paint and little by little put the letters on. My striping is fine so far. Here's a link:

The pic on the site is my cover before the decals, sent the guy my after pics but he never changed it. I have an after pic on my profile. The decals look as good as the day I put them on.

The silver paint on the "Supercharged" was coming off really bad on my engine cover also. This appears to a common problem with the 6th gen montes.
I used a duplicolor spray of metallic silver that matched the original color of the lettering. Covered it with some layers of clear. So far holding up okay.

The paint on my engine cover is also chipping off as well. Thanks for the input on how to redo the lettering. I think I'm gonna go with the decals. And I just might steal the beer cap idea from JuniorCar
