Unhappy my monte has skin cancer..

So i spotted this rust spot yesterday while i was washing my car..
i want to stop it before it starts to spreadd.. any recommendations? i was thinking just simply have the piece cut out.

(my car was a NY car but garage kept during winters away from salty roads. maybe a little salt got near it? im not sure. under the car looks fine, this is the only spot.)

Thats some nasty salt damage.....

The only way to fix it..is to cut it out and replace it with new...

That looks like its seen lots of salt

Looks like the inner lip of the front fender. It may not require cutting or replacing. Probably best to remove the fender and have the affected area cleaned and treated with a rust inhibitor like POR15.

It is most likely the result of some stone chips. I think it's sad GM does not coat that lip of all drive wheels with some inhibitor (like they did on my friend's '94 Firebird, he's had it since it left the show room, and the lip on the rear quarters has what looks like the same coating in the wheel wells).

Yuck! Rust sucks. I recommend getting it fixed asap as it will spread fast! I'd start by grinding it down to see if there is still good metal there. If not, definitely cut and replace it. Shouldn't be too bad of a fix considered it's pretty small.
