Default HID messing with nightshades

Has anyone had a problem with your HID kit burning off the nightshade? It seemed ok at first but lately the headlights have been getting real blotchy in the main bulb area. I know this happens over time but theyve only been tinted for about 6 months or so. The bulbs are 12,000k

If you feel up to it:

Ive seen guys paint the bottom of the reflector (section that is parallel to the ground) black and it gives a "black chrome" look without tampering with our lens. I am not sure how you did your HID install, if you did a retro then you know how to separate your housing, if not there is plenty of DIYs on youtube. Basically put the headlight in the oven for ~3min then pop the lens cover off while its still hot. www.HIDplanet.com has a few guys that have done it, and i have to say, looks pretty bad a$$.

plus, depending on who you got your kit from, HID bulbs consume less power (~35 watts) then halogen (~55 watts) so they radiate less heat.

IMO. You are most likely experiencing solar damage.

heres a link to the guy who did a retro and painted his reflector with the VHT nightshade.

That what I was trying to figure out, but no Buknasty's probably right. I do live in the desert and the sun is real intense out here. Probably gonna have to take it off.

HIDs actually run a tad bit cooler than stock halogens.
