I have recently purchased a 2001 Monte SS that was registered in Kentucky where they do not have front license plates. Here in Ohio, we have them, and I need to find out how to mount the front plate. There is a cover panel on the bumper, and when I remove it there isn't any type of bracket for the plate. Is there a special bracket I need to buy, or can I just use the two small holes the the cover panel was attached with to mount the plate? Any help someone has is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I am interested in purchasing the piece/filler you took off, please! I need one! You just put your license plate in the 2 holes in the bumper.

My Monte is black, don't know if that is the color you need. The two holes that hold the cover plate on seem too small to be for a license plate though. I will need to check the position to see if that will work, sure hope it does. If you are interested in the black cover I have, let me know.

I just checked, and the holes used for the filler piece do not match with the holes on a license plate. However, there are two small indents in the bumper material that do line up with a plate. Is it okay to just make a hole with a screw in these indents to attach the plate? It seems like there should be a more secure way to attach the plate. Anyone using a front plate now? It would be great to hear how someone has attached theirs.
Thanks, shoup.

Yes you have to drill out the holes with a small drill bit and use license plate bolts with a tapered end to secure the plate. Like I said earlier the top of the plate slides up into a slit at the top and it's very secure - the plate isn't going anywhere!
