flat black graphics... should i clearcoat?
hey, everyone. i figure im gonna do some personalizing to my monte, so im gonna start simple and do some accent stripes up the hood. i want to do them in a flat black color, and i am wondering if i should clearcoat them? will it just get sucked into the matte black paint, or will it prevent the paint from fadeing?
thanks for any info

I get asked that all the time at the store.
Anytime you add clear, your going to get your gloss. If you want to stay flat ( some people call it Semi-Gloss ), your going to either have to use single stage paint or cover it with a flattened clear.
One thing to warn thou, you can only flatten so much before it gets chalky. So if your only going to use it on the graphics, then use single stage paint. But dont use something cheap either. Go for the best that you can get. In PPG, get Concept. In BASF, get Uno.
