Common 6-gen tail light problem?
Hey guys so I'm sure I have mentioned in the past that I need to replace my right tail light bcuz it is cracked in several places on the side & the seal is going bad near the top of it. So I got a used one for 30 bucks on ebay thinking it was gonna be okay since the seller said there was no cracks or anything. Well I got it & it's in great shape & then I looked on the side & i see that this one has tiny cracks almost in the same exact spots that the one I have now has. So I was just wondering if anyone else with 6-gen montes have had the same problems with cracking on the sides of the tail lights. Here's a pic of the one that is on the monte now, yes the monte was absolutely filthy but its been soo cold here that it's hard to keep it clean all of the time.
It was dark so I couldn't exactly see what I was aiming at lol the bad part of the seal is near the top of the pic & then the biggest cracks are at the bottom
Here is the best pic I could get of the newer tail light the night that I got it. It has 3 little cracks in it. I'm hoping I can find a way to prevent it getting any worse. Eventually, once I get it repainted & everything I'll get a brand new tail light but this one is gonna have to work for now. It looks a lot better then the one I have now & hopefully it won't hurt me as much during car shows

I don't have cracks but I know mine are not 100% Sealed, specifically my passenger side one cause moisture/dew sometimes builds up in it every so often in the morning, not a big deal for me as it goes away as it gets warmer, but others have replaced it due to this.
As for the cracks occuring I can only possibly think when doing the install the they tightened the screws on the back to tight causing it to crack, other then that could just be coincidence.

I have not had a problem with mine but I have had a problem with my vent vizors cracking because of my stereo system LOL .I had to go down and pull the car cover off my car just to make sure that the stereo did not crack my tail lights but mine are still good

I have several cracks on the front of the tail lights but on the inside. Then again it might just be the cold weather here and I might hit them to hard in the cold with the snow brush when I clean them in the morning. But nothing on the sides and no seal problems.

I wonder if it is not a mix of your heat and humidity we get hot out here but have low humidity so the rubber and foam don't swell much . I wonder if that is it ? Talk to monte owners that are in your area and see what they say

Idk it's a confusing situation. The car has been hit/scuffed by something on the right rear bcuz you can see a big scuff on the tail light in certain light that follows down onto a big scuff going down the fender of the car so that prob had someting to do with it but this one doesn't make much sense. Maybe these tail lights are coming from crazy states like Missouri where it's 70 degrees one day & then below freezing the next lol those poor tail lights prob can't take it (like me!)
