Default Changes Since Switch Aftermarket Headlights

Awhile back I made the conversion to aftermarket headlights to my '02. Not exactly sure what kind they are, since they just came on my parts car. They have the blacked out bottom. Anyway, since I installed them, I noticed they perform differently than my stock.

First off, when I turn my car on at night, my lights don't turn on until I put the car into gear. No dash lights or low beams until until I shift (or if I pull the switch on the dash).

Secondly, My low beams stay on full-time while the car is on. With my stock headlights, my outside driving lights would be on instead during the day.

My question is, is it just different programming in the lamps themselves, or did I mess something up when I installed them?

Changing headlight assemblies should have no effect in the way the lights work. Something got messed up somewhere.
