Default Broken Sun Roof Motor

My 2003 Monte's sun roof is broken, I figured it was the motor just because of things I have read and because it doesn't barelly move. I took it to the shop and they told me to take it all apart for the motor and to replace it and put it back together plus labor fees it would be $650. I know thier is alot involved to fix it but I wanted to know if that is a little expensive or should I just get it done. I know its alot of money but I love my monte im not gonna have something broken just because im to cheap to fix it. I also have to get tires and rims, an oil change, new wipers and a city sticker so im running low on cash.

@03redSS. I think thats the going rate to repair thoes sunroofs. My sunroof went out on me as well I took my monte to a sunroof reapair shop and he told me a price close to what yours was. One reason it cost so much to repair these is because these are whats called "non serviceable" which means they really are supposed to be replaced but they can be repaired but its much harder to do on these factory sunroofs than a aftermarket. I live in Cleveland Ohio I found a place called Morads about 10-15 mins away from my house they sell GM FWD parts they have sunroofs for about $150 and from what Ive read its not hard to install once you get the headliner down its only four bolts and four drain tubes. I think that is much cheaper than $650. If your a "DIY'er" than you might wanna try this. I know this is what I will be doing.

I think it's easier to get an entire sunroof assembly from the junkyard and install it yourself. i did it on my silver monte, paid $50 at the U-pull for the whole assembly, minus the glass because i used my original one lol

That's more work . If is the motor its easier just to swap it out. He's going to end up paying more than 50 for the who sunroof assemblies I know that for a fact. Chicago tax is 10% plus what ever the parts. Body parts and hard parts at the jy here cost little more
