Default Aluminum Front Impact Bar - Weight Reduction

This surfaced on Facebook a while back. I recently found my screenshots. I have a bar set aside for both of my Montes and plan to do this swap on them in the future. Last year, I helped a friend do this on his Daytona Grand Prix and it worked as easy as this information described (I think we had to drill two additional holes to hold the retainers for a wiring harness).

So, wait a minute. Will this work on the 95-99 Montes? Front AND rear?

It does not work for the rear, strictly the front. Being honest, I am not sure if it fits the 5th gen Monte/Gen 1 W-bodies. I know it fits the 97-03 Grand Prix (as I helped a friend put one on his Grand Prix). And I plan to put one on both of my Montes in the near future (I already have the bars, just need the time to do it).

I checked the interchange with GM Parts direct for the factory bar on the 2000 Monte to see if the 5th Gen Monte was listed and I did not see it listed, BUT does not mean they don't interchange (we are talking about interchanging an aluminum bar from one vehicle to a car it was never designed for, so it could be possible).

Would love to change mine to aluminum, just to be cleaner and not have to worry about rust.

If you have a junk yard near by, grab one of these aluminum bars and try it out. And you will have to report back results! If you go, I will suggest you have some wrenches, I think an 18mm is the size needed. Otherwise, 1-2 of the bolts to remove the aluminum bar is a bear (requires LONG extensions). Most the time I see the Aztec and the Buick Rendezvous in the junk yards, someone already pulled the front bumper cover off and the bar is sitting there waiting.

There's a blast from the past! I don't think I've seen an Aztek arond me in at least a decade - on the road or in a junkyard.

lol! I still see them in the junk yards, but the Rendezvous is definitely more common.

Nope, these cars are hardly to be found in my area of the world. Another reason why I keep searching for oop parts, can't even source a windshield.
