2002 Monte Carlo SS tail lights
Just wondering if anybody ever had tail lights that fog up? When I purchased car a few months ago I noticed small cracks going all the way around the tail lights. So I purchased another set from my local salvage yard that were crack free.
On removing the cracked ones the screw posts (3); two just fell off! Past owner or whoever replaced light bulbs must have cranked on so tight they cracked mounting screw posts. Then I realized those small cracks must have been "stress" cracks. As well as entire bottom was split open.
So, when I installed my newer replacement lights I just tightend the three finger nuts just tight but not too tight. now this set is fogging up too! Is this a common issue?
They fog up when sun is out and car is wet, like after I wash it.

Yes I would say it's common. Happened to me, so I got my aftermarket LED ones. Some people try to seal up seams and other areas with silicone.

I only notice them fog when there is morning dew or right after a wash. It's just condensation forming. As long as water is not pooling in them, you should be alright. I would almost guess that was part of why GM changed them on the '06/'07 models.
