RE: wow this says it all
MCFs member Cort will be happy to explain to anyone the Lumina and Monte of the same years share very little to zero other then they "Appear" to be poured from the same Chevy molds.
I know 20 or more people including myself who swear the Lumi-Carlo of the 1990s are one in the same vehicle.
Providing Cort is right (and considering the MC lover he is)it's too bad the authors of these articles blasting themid to late '90s Montes as being nothing but a 2-door Limina should have done more homework. (or any for that matter)
Like was mentionedon theinformation I posted about the '06 Montes being worthless. These authorsneed to get off their fat rears and at least test drive a car (versus desk driving one) so they can report a better, more efficient article.

I agree.
But, how many have driven at least one of EVERY generation? I have......'72 MC (first), '76 MC (second), '79 MC (third), '81 MC (fourth), '88 MC (fourth), '87 MC (fourth), '97 (fifth), '00 (sixth) ... and a few others that have not been in my immediate family.
As for the 1995+ers....according to the book _Chevrolet: The Complete History_ [copyright 1996 by Publications International LTD], on page 348: "With the new Lumina coupe and sedan effectively replacing their Celebrity counterparts...." And, on page 359: "Taking the place of the aging Celebrity sedan was the Lumina sedan ... a coupe version followed in the fall."
The Lumina shared types (Eurosport), dashboards (flat/horizontal), tail lights (3 square on each side, across the back panel, more or less) and FWD with the Celebrity.....
In addition ... the Monte Carlo was the only one of the cousin names (Buick Regal, Olds Cutlass Supreme, Pontiac Grand Prix) to NOT be slapped on a FWD car IMMEDIATELY after the RWD versions ended in 1987/1988.
