We finally brought it home!! WAHOO!!!
- I’m glad it’s only a $500 car from the stance I did not get chance to look over it in the day light as rigorously as I’ve looked at any car (heck, I have yet to see it in the day light). I say this because I did find some light rust in the back door panel and when you look under the hood it doesn’t look the cleanest. But I think some work and it should look great (and be worth the $500).
- My friend heard the Check Engine codes were transmission related. Saturday I'm going to transfer the title and I've decided it best to have a professional transmission shop (who has a great reputation in my area) look the situation over.
- I did not get to personally hear the car until tonight, but my friend did the day we made the actual deal. He heard a “whrrring” noise and let me know before we made final commitment to buy it. I listened to it tonight and I am 99% sure the noise is in the power steering pump. Far from a big deal (piece of cake to swap and put some GOOD fresh fluid into).
- I have the last two weeks of the year off and a chance to get the car inside to work on. I want to change all fluids, T-stat, plugs, wires and I think that might do it to give the car a green light to drive it without worry.
And, as promised, some pics of it in our driveway!!

Please Note: The Monte Carlo is under the car cover to the left, all snug for the winter.
Only better if it was inside....
