Wi- Fi IN MY SHOP

Wi- Fi IN MY SHOP
Who can advise me on the best way for me to get Wi-Fi in my shop? It is a cinder block building 50 feet from my house. I have good Wi-Fi all through the brick house, but outside the side of the house closest to the shop I get very little signal and no usable signal in my shop. My first thought was to run some cat5 cable from my router to my shop and connect a router there. Some friends are suggesting I add a booster or range extender at the edge of the house and then again inside the shop closest to the house. Have any of you had good luck extending your home network into a shop or barn/outbuilding? I have looked at the Netgear range extenders but am unsure how they would work using two to three in a linear fashion to extend the network.
What do you all suggest?

I'd try a range extender first and or move the router closer to the garage if possible. Some routers are stronger than others as well.

If it was me, I'd run the CAT5 to the garage and put a wireless access point in the garage. Use the same SSID/Password, but a different wireless channel. Clean and dedicated, no repeater delay or headache. (my opinion) Just get an access point though and let your cable modem still do DHCP and such.
If the garage is only 50ft from house, then the cable run for the cat5 should easily stay under the 300ft limitation.

Lots of food for thought.
My original plans in my current home was to run some Cat5e or Cat6 to the garage and set up another access point (either dedicated access point or a second router). Since my plans switched to moving, we shall see what I cook up for the new home. On the plus side, the access point I am using in my home, I did test it in multiple locations and it's set at an ideal spot that gets me some, be it weak, wireless signal in my garage.

I have my router located ideally for the house, deck, and backyard. I hate to move it. If I add a second router will they share the same ip address or will the second be different? I would like it to be a seamless connection from the house thru the side yard to the shop.

I've never set up multiple routers for the same home network, but I believe Keane hit the nail on the head. But the management IP used to access the management features on the routers must be different (otherwise you have an IP conflict). But if the Wireless settings are the same, there should be no reason you cannot go seamlessly between the routers with a wifi device.
